I have felt moved to share this with anyone who may be out there…I recently won the complete set of the Jon Foreman EP’s Fall and Winter, Spring and Summer from Solution FM. I have really enjoyed these tracks, but in particular the song “Somebody’s Baby” has worked to clear up my eyes a bit. It has reminded me to look beyond the appearances of the people I encounter every day.
Do I see the extreme black makeup, the multiple piercings and spikes, the rude tee shirt or do I see somebody’s baby?
Do I hear the obnoxious language, the bad attitude, or do I hear somebody’s baby?
Do I focus on the body odor or the disfigured face, or do I focus on somebody’s baby?
Do I get irritated and turn away, or do I remember that we do have something in common? Each one of us was somebody’s baby. Each one of us is somebody’s baby. The road which we have each traveled to meet on this day is what has determined appearance.
I will choose to remember this fact and treat people with the compassion and love they deserve.
Well, that’s what’s on my iPod and my mind, so check it out. I hope to see you all soon over the next few weeks. Check the schedule and come out and worship your butts off with us! By the way, Chris probably won’t like this song. We have very different tastes in music. He’s just a weirdo! I’m serious!!!
Listening for God,
Dave
